My name is Lisa Fan. I am a Postdoctoral Researcher in the Department of Politics and International Relations at the University of Oxford. I am a member of the Democratic Values and Authoritarian Legitimacy (DEVAL) research project. I received my PhD in Political Science at Columbia University. My research interests include authoritarianism, gender politics, and political communication. In my dissertation, I use machine learning and natural language processing to examine how women employ gendered strategies of loyalty to advance in authoritarian politics. My research is supported by the Empirical Study of Gender Network and the APSA Women, Gender and Politics section. Prior to Columbia, I graduated from Wellesley College with degrees in Political Science and Economics.
